This is a Missouri-specific expansion — many states restrict certification to MDs or DOs only. The expanded NP eligibility significantly increases scheduling availability for St. Joseph patients. There are two separate, independent charges paid to two different parties. DHSS has 30 days to process patient applications, in the order received. Email updates are sent throughout. If an application is returned for corrections, you have 10 calendar days to resubmit with no additional fee. Importantly, if DHSS has not processed your application within 30 days, you may use the physician certification to purchase marijuana while waiting — for up to one year. This interim purchase option is unique to Missouri and provides meaningful protection against processing delays.
